About Us

Hate, racism and anti-semitism can only dwell if there is prejudice.

together.to aims to foster American Jewish German dialogue. It should serve as a plattform to ask questions about contemporary Germany as well as Judaism today.

Who is behind together.to?
In July 2011 the “Third Generation Initiative” took place for the second time. A group of young American Jews came to Germany to meet a group of young Germans (and one Israeli working in Germany). The program lasted for 9 days during which the participants met various historians, politicians, leaders of the Jewish community in Germany, and many others. During the discussions the group had, the idea for together.to was born. The countless discussions between the group members led to a better understanding of what Germans, American Jews, and the Jewish people are today. We saw that the things we see and read in the media about either “side” are not enough, as the media tend to report only about “big things” … which tell a very distorted story of reality. So, some of the participants of the Third Generation Initiative of 2011 decided to create a platform for dialogue.
And here we are together.to share what we experienced and to foster the dialogue between young Jews and Germans.

What’s the Third Generation Initiative?
The American Jewish Committee (AJC) and Allianz SE, one of Germany’s leading financial services companies, in cooperation with Germany Close-Up, have embarked on a 5-year groundbreaking cooperation to bring young American Jewish professionals on an annual study trip to Germany along with German peers working at Allianz.
